Welcome to Peru! Arrival at Lima’s International Airport, reception and transfer to your Hotel. The rest of the day you have free time. Overnight you stay in Lima.
In the morning, you participate in a guided tour of the modern and colonial part of Lima. You end the tour at the Larco Museum, which houses the insuperable private collection of Treasures of Ancient Peru. (B/L)
Morning flight from Lima to Arequipa. In the morning you do a city tour in Arequipa. At the agreed time, you are transferred to the railway station where you check-in to the Belmond Andean Explorer Train. In the evening the train leaves the railway station in direction of Puno. You have dinner and stay overnight on the train. (B/L/D)
You have breakfast on the train before it reaches Puno. You transfer to the port where you board a boat that brings you to the floating islands of the Uros and Taquile Islands. In Taquile, you have lunch before returning to Puno. The train leaves Puno in direction of Cusco in the late afternoon. You have dinner and stay overnight aboard the train. (B/L/D)
You have breakfast on the train. Early morning you visit en route the Inca site “Raqch’i” before the train reaches Cusco. From the railway station, you are transferred to your Hotel. The rest of the day you have free time. (B).
In the afternoon, you visit the city of Cusco. The tour will begin at the Koricancha Temple, an ancient Inca palace and center of worship to the sun god, then, you will visit the Plaza de Armas, with the Cathedral, the most important temple in the city. The Fortress of Sacsayhuamán is an impressive example of Inca military architecture. Nearby is Kenko, an archaeological site where the Sun, Moon and Stars are celebrated. The night you spend at a Hotel in Cusco. (B)
Chinchero is a small and picturesque village that houses an important Inca archaeological center. The best views of the Sacred Valley you have from the viewpoint of Racchi. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Finally, you reach the town of Ollantaytambo, known as “the only living Inca city”. You stay overnight in the Sacred Valley. (B/L)
Early morning transfer to the railway station in Ollantaytambo. You will travel by train to the village of Aguas Calientes. Upon arrival, you will visit the archaeological site of Machu Picchu and discover this wonder of the world and UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the agreed time, you will descend to Aguas Calientes and board the train for your return trip to Ollantaytambo. Arrival to the Station and transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. (B/L)
You visit Moray, an interesting archaeological site with huge concentric terraces. Then you will visit the salt marshes of Maras, where the finest salt of the world is extracted. Finally, on the return transfer, you will stop at the viewpoint of Urubamba where you will have a privileged view of the area. You continue your trip to the hotel in Cusco where you spend the night. At the agreed time, transfer out to the Airport in Cusco for your flight to Lima where you connect to your international flight. (B)
