Your 4-day, 3-night train experience will begin in Bogota, Colombia, where you’ll have an opportunity to travel on the “Tren de la Sabana” to Zipaquira and explore the city with a tour that includes a ride up to the Monserrat Hill with a traditional funicular constructed in the 1950s. The “Bogota and Surroundings by Train Tour” provides a unique and wonderful way to explore the beauty of Bogota and its region. This tour can easily be combined with a journey on the Tren Crucero in Ecuador and/or with a visit to Machu Picchu and Titicaca in Peru.
Welcome at Bogota’s International Airport “El Dorado” and transfer to the Hotel Exe Bacata 95.
Get acclimated to the vibrant city of Bogota. During the morning, you do a walking tour through Bogota’s historical center. Try local delicacies during the walk and visit the cities icons such as “Chorro de Quevedo”, the Botero Museum and the Bolivar Place. After your lunch, you travel on Bogota’s emblematic funicular up the Monserrate Hill from where you enjoy breathtaking views over the city. you have free time the rest of the afternoon. Transfer from your Hotel to the Sabana Railway Station where you board the “Tren de la Sabana”. Enjoy from the train Bogota’s Savannah Region during the 53km journey to Zipaquira. In Ziparquira, you visit the Salt Cathedral 180 m (591 ft.) below the ground, inside an old salt mine. On the train journey back to Bogota, the train stops in Cojiba where you have lunch. You reach Bogota in the late afternoon from where our driver brings you to your hotel. (B,L)
